what is Rukkuri?
Rukkuri in Maldvian language means the tip of the growing coconut tree. The coconut tree is our ever present national symbol. This metaphor is thus very expressive in our local context and gives deep meaning to the idea of continued growth and sensible development to the multitude of communities in our many dispersed islands. Rukkuri refers to the essence of growth in Maldivian parlance so to say. It signifies freshness, renewal, regeneation, and continuity. Thus, this blog takes inspiration from this metaphor, to promote the idea of social reform and renewal. Together with ENDEVOR's tag line " to each one a voice", rukkuri seeks to link with the essence of democratic thinking -- the plurality of voice; that which will make our social, economic and health decisions ever richer because we have the inclusiveness of many viewpoints. May Allah Bless us all!

Rukkuri is a beautiful meaningful word... Yes for democratic thinking & so to pave way for a happy, healthy, vibrant future with family, friends & the community. Good one, Dr. Sattar. Hina
Thanks, for your supportive comment. The idea of rukkuri is inspirational. let us all keep up a dialogue.
Very good initiative Dr. Sattar! You have excellent trait of expressing ideas and thoughts. To me word has a very high value. It is a very powerful weapon to transform communities. Holy persons like Jesus and Prophet Mohammad uttered some simple words long ago before small gatherings or in the midst of mountains which are so powerful source of man making and inspirations. So keep up guiding people with your noble ideas. My earnest request to write what is in your heart and which is practicable.
I pray Allah to bless you and the people of your small but beautiful and loving country! Amen!!!
Thank you anonymous, for your inspiration. As human souls we do our little bit to move the social agenda into greener pastures
